The way it is......

Hi everyone. Thanks for the kind emails and comments that asked if I was still around. There has certainly been a lot going on in my world, with demands on time and expectations, largely created by me, and then there was the other work that has a way of creeping up when you think you are on top of everything and the phone rings and says where is the ....? and I think D'OH! and it is there again. I give this as background only, NOT because I am unhappy or complaining. I have waited a lifetime to find my place, I have wanted to be busy and in demand for some time, and so as it is happening I am grateful. Though there are times when I get caught off guard!

Today has been an unusual and energising day. I was honoured to share some lunch with some dear friends, and the discussion I shared with them was illuminating and refreshing. I respect their opinions, life experience and friendship. It was just such a warm experience and I look forward to sharing time with them again in the future. I was also following up a lot on some background hassles and customer concerns, and dropping off some small things to customers, and all in all it was a day when I did a lot of little things, and apart from the wonderful lunch with friends was a little short. I dashed into the bank before it closed and then went to the video store got some films and then took the family to dinner at the Lonestar Steak House and saloon! It was yummo!
Just prior to us leaving the house, my Dog went ballistic or crazy barking and he is a fairly big dog and when he barks like that you just KNOW there is something wrong, I raced out to the front of the house to hear some screaming and a man yelling out get down on the ground NOW!! and repeating that several times, I walked in front of the neighbours house where a policeman was aiming something, I assumed to be a gun (it was dark) in the direction of a man and two other policemen tackled the man and before I knew it they emerged from the neighbours house and six police cars came flying around the corner and arrested the man who was resisting and very defiant. I held back to calm the dog down who was very pleased that I was congratulating him.

When the man was placed in the back of a police paddy wagon one of the detectives approached me and said that the man was arrested and had been injured, taken to hospital where he panicked and then escaped from custody and ran through a neighbourhood jumping fences and breaking things that stood in his path. The policeman said because of my dog the criminal had stopped as he was climbing my back fence and jumped over the yard of my neighbour! Whew for us, but he broke my neighbours gate locks to evade recapture.

Really a bit of excitement and within 15 mins all was over. I could get all philosophical here and sprout theories and whatever, but I am happy to say simply that the day was interesting and highlighted sincerely by my lunch and sharing with friends.

I believe it is the people we share with and admire that really change lives and add meaning to life. I found this quote and just love it.

Love doesn't make the world go 'round; love is what makes the ride worthwhile.

I have been thinking deeply of late on a number of topics. My Mum goes in for surgery next week, cancer has re-appeared, Mum hasn't said too much but she is a little worried. I jokingly said, "no need to worry Mum, only the good die young!" That was met with a wry smile and touch of ridicule, I meant nothing more than humour by it, but I can sense her concern. I said to her also that I wasn't sure what to say, I don't know the words, but I feel very grateful for you and love you.

She is a good woman, I am hopeful that she will be at ease next Wednesday when she goes in.

Coupled with the news, I was called by my car leasing company who said I need to get another car as the lease has expired on my 4 wheel drive, which has become a work horse for 5 years and 212,000 kilometres. Everyone of them I have driven personally. I have become quite attached to it in some ways, so i have decided to keep it and then get another one, and guess which car I am looking at? yep an Audi. I have seen a Jag, a mercedes and a few others but I have hired Audis for some time and know them intimately. The truth of the matter is, that people judge me at weddings by a number of factors and when presentation is so crucial to being different these days, I need to make that move. So I am waiting on my finance Broker to get back to me. I phoned him and he just didn't get back to me in time, I was hoping to arrange it today. But I believe that things happen when they're meant to, and it will all be OK.

I will retire now and watch some of those movies!!! More on that later, I just wanted to have a quick post to let you know I am still here and have had a wonderful day, all things considered.

The iphone 3G is released world wide today, and whilst I already have had an iphone for some months I can see the new one making it into my stable of gadgets in a couple of months time when the hype settles down. Boys and their toys?!#$

I love Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's choice of name for their baby girl - Sunday Rose. Beautiful. Congratulations you two. I am proud for you.

The Pope arrives on Thursday and part of Sydney is going into lockdown mode. Pilgrims have started en mass to arrive to greet the Pontif. I am not a Catholic, but greatly respect the zeal and commitment of their number who have travelled the globe to be a participant in these festivities, I pray that it will be a success and be peaceful. Welcome to you all.

You had a day and a half all at one time, didn't you? Even tho, sometimes, it seems like you're not getting very much done at all, it sounds to me like you got a treMENdous amount of stuff done, including a bunch of "little" things -- which, if not done, would have nagged and nagged at you. All in all, a very good day, Craig.

I'll be thinking about your mother and wishing her strength to endure this latest episode in her fight against cancer.

hello Craig:) thx you for stopping by and for the well wishes. I read through your opening statment in your blog. You are an awesome photographer and also an interesting wrighter. I am a Christian and I will be praying for your MUM, that title that you use is so endearing. My mama will turn 81 in September. She cooked dinner one day this week for my wife and I. It was soooo good. Thank the Lord for mama. I am also greatful that you guys are ok after all of the excitment at your neighbors house.

I wish you well on the purchase of the new car. My solgan is "A MOMENT IN TIME" I think that is the reason we do what we do. With out photography, this would be a forgotten world. Our lives are so involved we don't take the time to reflect! That is the reason I am so pationate about the click of my camera. This life is a fleeting moment in the space of time. I wish I would have taken more pictures of my dear old dad and my wonderful Preacher. Well, sorry for getting carried away. I read your story about your day and it put me to thinking. I stopped by to thank you for the best wishes and to view your beautiful work. It inspires and moves me. Thank you for sharing what you do. "A MOMENT IN TIME"
