They're Back!!! Spending last night with the ANGELS!

No, I haven't as one friend queried, died and knocked on Heavens doors, but last night I was extended the opportunity by the Angels management and their wonderful PR lady to photograph the band. WOOHOO!

Yes it’s true…. Rock fans everywhere rejoice…. The Angels Are Back!

The former Angels band have reunited, and to the delight of music lovers everywhere, they are back as the original line-up with Doc Neeson (Lead Vocals), John Brewster (Rhythm Guitar, b/v), Rick Brewster (Lead guitar), Chris Bailey (Bass, b/v) and Graham “Buzz” Bidstrup (Drums).

I was right in front of the stage for the performance and thought it was an absolute FULL ON rock concert, the likes I haven't seen in some time. No audiovisual trickery, no giant video screens, no costume changes and idle chatter, just pure Rock.

Being so close to the stage , the band AND the crowd gave me some really interesting shots and my ears are still ringing... really!! I could see the pleasure and fulfillment the experience was for the band members themselves, and the crowd as well. Just to think that some 30 years after they were first formed, they can still sellout shows and have every member of their audience rocking and being so totally absorbed by the experience. No small achievement I proffer.

I looked around me at the upstairs rafters and the floor and it was literally jam packed. The alcohol was flowing, the rhythm and dancing shook the floor. It was a great rock concert, perhaps as good, if not better, than when I saw them in my teens which was many years ago. They still have it!! They are at Blacktown tonight and if you see the schedule they have for themselves, there will be a lot of happy people. One thing I feel important to add also is that the crowd was so well natured, there were no incidents of agro or testosterone which has been present at a few of the rock / pub style concerts I have attended. It was a great atmosphere where everybody was there to have a great time, and that we all did.

I wonder how much the club made on alcohol sales last night, they had three areas set up as bars and they were always 5-7 people deep whenever I glanced over there. I bought the trusty orange juice and a bottle of water. The bar tender said, is that all you want?

At the end I couldn't help laughing, as there were about 10 women and a couple of guys who came up to me thinking I was the brother of Doc Neeson, the lead singer and almost begging me to take them backstage. One guy thought I was the manager. I heard stories of how much it would mean to them and on and on it went. Despite my polite protests that I know the Brewster Brothers, I have met Doc, but I don't possess the relationship sufficient just to take people backstage, they were so disappointed. I understand their desire to go backstage, but as I left, I passed at the stage door and saw the band leaving there, and the people could have met their heroes right there!

Oh well. If you are Angels fans enjoy the concerts because I would highly commend them to you, should you be a fan of Rock music. They have as much raw energy and perhaps even refined it more. I loved John Brewster who was clearly in his element moving around the stage. Doc is looking and sounding great, Chris Bailey and Buzz all looked and sounded great as well.

I am a big fan of them all. You guys Rock!
