Nikon's S8000 and P100 Coolpix cameras
Last week I was away and I really love traveling through the Australian country side. It is truly a beautiful thing. I also had the opportunity to put Nikon's new coolpix cameras, The S8000 and the P100, to the test. I found them to be fantastic little cameras for people who want quality images, in a more compact, less heavy build, and these cameras performed like a treat. I will simply show the cameras below and the pictures under each of them. I will also provide a small explanation. It is important for you to know that NO digital enhancement or manipulation was applied to these images, they are shown as taken. One more thing you may want to know, they were all hand held!, meaning no tripod. The pictures may appear a little bigger if you click on each of them.
THE NIKON S8000 - $499 Australian Retail price
Macro / Close up - 1.5cm, away from the actual flower. The petals in the lower third of the photo are actually touching the glass on the front of the lens!
Full Wide Angle 30mm
Full Zoom 300mm
NIKON P100 - $599 Australian Retail price
Full Wide Angle 26mm wide.
This camera has an amazing 26x OPTICAL zoom and is shown fully here below
And if that wasn't enough to impress it also has an amazing 678mm digital zoom to get super close to the action.
A wonderful 3cm Macro/ close-up was used for this shot of a thistle.
In conclusion, for people who want a reliable compact camera these two are little beauties, and they perform so effortlessly. They also make great secondary cameras who find their SLR digitals too heavy to take everywhere.
