Denzel's Hospital Hangover!
The other day Denzel was scheduled to have some serious surgery having a number of teeth that were inappropriately growing due to early teeth that failed to follow the natural course of things and fall out. This had caused some serious stress on Denzel's teeth assortment and order, and so surgery was prescribed and completed. It was tough to see our little bloke in pain, it's tough to see any child in pain for that matter. I thought I would take some pictures with my iphone to show the layout of the surroundings and the wonderful people at the Children's Hospital Westmead. He is out of hospital as of yesterday and though he still has lots of stitches in his gums...YOUCH! he is still in good spirits, despite that.
This wonderful volunteer I photographed because she has been doing volunteering for 20 years. She told us her life story being widowed for many years and then dedicating her life to children at the hospital. Twice a week the wonderful Rita gets a lift in to work on Monday's and Thursdays and then catches a bus, a train and then walks home to her place on those evenings. She does this free of charge because she wants to do something worthwhile with her life. What an inspiration. She did not remember us over the times we have seen her in the past 14 years, but she is always ready with a helping hand, a warm smile and large and generous heart. I pay tribute to Rita and all the volunteers who daily choose to be selfless and help others to find a place of acceptance and at an often inconvenient and stressful time. It makes me see that life has so much beauty and wonder if we only seek it, and it rarely lies in the pursuits that attract attention and gaze. Thank you Rita and to you all.
