Painting Number 2...AND number 3!

The jeans above are of talented Australian Country music singer Adam Brand. He has a number of successful albums and is currently involved on Australia's Dancing with the Stars on Network 7 around Australia. This is the second pair of jeans I have been asked to do, and I was so pleased with them. After having done the two, I know I am getting better. The layout from left to right is the small versions of each of his albums and then the jeans which I painted and then the tree on the right hand side is of actual paperbark I found in my driveway that I peeled and glued to the canvas and then painted over. The background is of a beautiful luminous blue sky I selected to remind me of early at dawn, hinting the possibility and excitement of a new day and the rugged bush and over growth of the reeds and foliage one can find in the outback areas of this vast land.

It was a photograph I turned into a Black and white like etching. Then I printed it on paper and placed it next to the jeans and then I proceeded to paint the picture side by side. It is not 100% accurate but boy it is close. It is the first time I have done this, and I am loving it. I called it Blue Sky Cathedral which is the title of the song and film clip I have attached from You Tube at the end.

I met Adam a few weeks ago and took a picture of him, and he signed the CD I purchased. I told him I was painting his jeans and after gazing at my jeans of fellow county music legend Lee Kernaghan, he said "well my jeans are in good hands then!" He was gracious and kind, I wish him every ongoing success.


I just love the creative energies I feel waiting to get out. I woke up the other morning with an image of a sunset in my mind, together with the yellowing and orange hues against a barren terracotta earth, a view which I have actually seen. I was nervous but wanted to get the colours right and so I went and bought another canvas and painted another the one you see below in 40 mins. It is not finished yet, I want to put a silhouette in there somewhere of a guitarist or person(s). I haven't figured that out yet but will think on it and wait for the feeling or thought that suggests to me that (whatever) would work and then i will complete it.


I have been asked to contribute to a gallery showing early next year, and they want 10 canvases from me. They said I will probably sell some as well. As for that who knows. It would sure be great, but I am at this stage so pleased to be creating these things I cannot actually believe it. I do not look at the canvasses at the end when they are done and see or say how good I am or even remotely think in a superior mindset, not at all, I simply look at them, even the third one you see and say "Did I really do that?" and softly smile with the answer that needs not to be said. I am so fortunate to be finding a new door of expression. I am certainly the benefactor of so many warm and gracious blessings from people who help me in ways they cannot fully understand.
