Tapestry of Life
Last night I was delivering wedding photos to some clients and in between visits gave my sister Nita a call in Queensland and she was at the hospital, her husband had been ill and was diagnosed with a gangrenous gall bladder, and whilst prepping him for surgery to remove the gall stones which had gone into his intestines causing a major blockage and infection, not to mention the pain, he had a heart attack. He is still with us, and we're all grateful for that, my sister called me last night and said that inspite of everything he is just extremely drained, tired but happy, all things considered. I spread the news to the australian leg of the family and now from brother Richard all the rest of the family is aware. So interesting days ahead.
in a few hours time, at 8:08:08pm Beijing time and the olympics will start. So that means 8 August 08 and 8:08:08 will be a momentous time. The chinese believe the number 8 is good luck and may it bring us good fortune also.
Couple that with the fact that today being friday 8th August, is mine and Marcelina's wedding anniversary. 22 years ago today we were hitched in Green Hills, Makati in the Philippnes. I said to her that she "is about due for parole soon for good behaviour" to which she quipped and "yes you have have tried to break out of gaol haven't you!" (australian for Jail) I had to laugh at her wit!
We have certainly had more than our share of difficulties and certainly had a number of issues that have caused angst, sadness and pain for both parties. Yet despite the rocky terrain, there have been many highlights and many great times. As life has become complicated, busy and stressful as I strive to succeed creatively with my mode of expression and business, it has tested the very fabric of the tapestry of life, yet we are happy I think. Denzel presents to us his own unique style of joy, innocence and awkwardness, but we love him without reservation and know that he feels that.
so, 22 years today ago we got married. I was so skinny! I looked so young! and I was. 21 in fact. The good thing about comment moderation is that any comments that talk about what I look like now compared to then can be deleted! I will post a picture of that time soon. Oh dear! I remember the time with much happiness and a grin. A friend Glenn A. Baker was the best man at my wedding with a mutual friend Graham, so those two rogues and my Mum were the only family I had who came over to the Philippines to support me and it was great. Marcelina's family traveled to Manila as they came from a province in the visayan region in the Philippines archipelago. It was a simple ceremony that last just a few minutes that was emotional and sweet. Then a day or so later we went back to Marcelina's province where we had the reception where lots of her friends and family came to visit. I think it fair to say that there were more than a few people who came for the spectacle of a foreigner marrying a local girl.
It was a very interesting time I remember that was filled with talent night from the locals and food a plenty. Happy memories I haven't visited in a while. I will include some images here very soon, not at the moment as I am about to do some other work which is necessary!
I will include a Valentines wish that Marcelina created this year for valentines day. It shows the pictures and is a lovely tribute.
All part of the rich tapestry of life no less. Have a good day everyone.

Congratulations and happy anniversary to you and Marcelina!!
I remember that time very well. I was in a hospital bed in Manila, having injured my back. You paid me a flying visit. You were on your way to Marcelina's province. I remember clearly how very excited you were. One line stands out distinctly..."I stand all amazed at the love and marriage you offer me." You said that Marcelina had written that to you. You were so very excited!!! Have a wonderful day both of you - I hope you have something very special planned. Lots of love. LisC
Gangrenous gall bladder? Arrgh! Sounds like he's getting the best of care, tho.
It is worrying times for Nita & Bruce. Wish I could be there.
Love ya bro

Goldenrod Thank you Marcelina will be pleased you like the video and yes it is very worrying about brother in law Bruce. He is in the best of care and spirits despite it all. He is an inspiration. I spoke with him hours before going into hospital, before we knew it was so bad, and I asked how he was, and he said not good, so in less than 24 hours it got bad quickly. Anyway, he is still with us which is great. He is a good man.

Tub, Marcelina does need an award for services to the community, and looking like Rob and will in the younger days, I cracked up reading your comment, I guess there are worse things, I could have looked like Marty Feldman? I am confident that your thoughts are sufficient, I wish you were here as well.
I love you too Bro
Craig
I'm tickled pink that LisC remembered what I said to you Craig when you proposed to me . And I'm still amazed more so now than ever before!
Craig, I'm most grateful to you for trusting me with your hopes and dreams, your highs and lows, your future. Thank you for giving me a son who brings so much joy and fulfillment in my life.
With the path you chose to take that demands so much of your time and energy, I thank you for coming home to me and Denzel when the jobs are done, and be the Craig that I have always known and loved.
I am a better person now than I was 22 years ago, and will only continue to blossom even more in years to come....because you walk beside me and hold me by the hand. Denzel and I love you very much!
Congratulations, and I hope it was a wonderful day. :)
