Catherine Britt / Amber Lawrence / Nicki Gillis
Well the last few weeks have sailed by so very quickly and only now in the evening on Monday the 4th of August have I had time to review some things I have done over the last little while.
I wanted to spotlight a few great artists whom I met last week at the Country Jamm called Catherine Britt, Amber Lawrence and Nicki Gillis.
CATHERINE BRITT
These ladies are amazing and I will be watching their talents continue to rise. I certainly appreciated listening to them, photographing and meeting them. From a creative perspective, I love to surround myself with people who are thinking of what's possible, and thinking and striving to reach higher.
Elton John said it best in the first clip about Catherine, "She is the real deal"...and may I add that she is every bit as kind and genuine as she appears.
AMBER LAWRENCE
Another great artist who I mentioned previously in another post went into a record store near her home and heard a country song and she knew this medium was for her. She sang three songs on the night and this was one of them which I really liked. and thought I would post it here as well. I liked Amber, she had a no fuss no arrogance approach to people wanting to have their pictures taken with her. She was accommodating and very genuine.
NICKI GILLIS
This lady is a daughter of an established performer and has two daughters that I believe will follow in their mothers footsteps also. She is a very vibrant artist on stage and had the poise and looks to really do well. Unlike Catherine and Amber she is an established performer, but recently took out awards at the Annual Gympie Music Muster which brought Nicki to the industry people and audiences as well. Though many who follow something called Canterbury country would know her as a regular at the Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL. She was a great person, and I was able to take a couple of pictures of her which she was happy to allow. It happens that she is the niece of a dear lady whom I have had some interaction with at Jamm for Genes for some time.
I really continue to be impressed by the growing talent this little country of Australia produces, not just in country and mainstream music, but in a host of areas. We have a total of just over 20 million people and per capita we excel in many areas. I just felt that I should create a new post as stated earlier, highlighting a little more of the talent, lest I seem to pass over it because I genuinely was grateful to see, hear and record a little in the journey of these artists.
