Lani Misalucha in Sydney

I was invited to photograph the Lani Misalucha concert in Sydney at the Blacktown Workers Club on Friday night. I went having heard a few things about her music and went willing to see what the buzz was about.

Lani, a Filipino songstress now resides in las Vegas, and has been referred to as the new "Siren of the Strip". She has completed sellout repeated seasons at the Flamingo and the Hilton Hotels in Las Vegas. She now hosts a television show in the US called Las vegas with Lani.

This is the first time she has held concerts in Australia and was one artist who truly catered for all musical tastes and styles.

She Performs a fusion of Rock, Pop, Jazz, Soul, Rhythm and Blues and Operatic Arias. Her rendition of Nessun Dorma was incredible and after the applause she asked the audience if they would like one more classic piece and cited it was from Puccini and then broke out into Bohemian Rhapsody from Queen.

She even does vocal and visual impressions of artists like Brittany Spears, Shakira, Celine Dion- with every correct and precise vocal inflection, and then Tina Turner and even the very Diva herself Diana Ross. She was amazing.

In March 2008, She was even voted the Best Singer out of all the performers in las Vegas in the 27th Annual Best of Las Vegas poll. The Las Vegas Mayor even declared 4 December Lani Misalucha day in tribute to the amazing talents of this amazing artist. She had many adoring fans, and as the last picture shows, even one of the Apo creators Jim Paredes was there at the foot of stage cheering with everyone else, see his picture of Lani on his iphone!

I also had the opportunity to meet her and found her to be a fun and very warm person.
