Nikon D5000

Yesterday at about 5:30am, I arrived at Cronulla beach south east of where I live to put the brand new Nikon D5000 camera through it's paces. It is a consumer based digital SLR designed to take the best features that exist in a compact camera and combine them into the body and better image facility that a Digital SLR camera provides. They added in a high definition movie mode as well, and are selling it in this country for $1,995.00 retail with a twin lens kit comprising an 18-55mm and 55-200mm VR lenses. I have it on loan for a week or so and really love it - for what it is.

All the attached images were shot in the scene mode designed to make taking pictures that look great, simple and easy to create with this camera.

I used them in straight jpeg mode with the supplied 18-55mm VR lens, I did this so prospective consumers could have complete confidence in the camera getting these results without needing specialised lenses and other external equipment. I must add here also, that no tripod was used. it was all handheld.

If someone is wanting to get into the digital SLR market I certainly recommend this camera.
