Fire and Rain

The last few days have been kind of surreal.

I have had some very exciting news peppered with emotions and feelings that have caused me to reflect much on life and on where I go from here. I was able to chat with a fantastic lifelong friend Adrian who has the right advice and always infuses his unique blend of humour and counsel when there are times I need a second perspective. I am very grateful for good friends, I am grateful that on life's path I have made a friend of such a person. He has a doctorate now and is every bit the same friend I always knew.

I arrived in Auckland a little while ago and drove from the city of sails south to stay with my niece and her family, I love these people very much as well. I have such a big family and as I am number 14 of 15 siblings from the same two parents you can expect a range of personalities, emotions and characters. I love them all, but share a wonderful bond with this particular niece and her family.

I just wanted to make a post tonight because as I was driving in the rain on roads that were smooth and empty, being that it is now 1am here as I write this, I was driving and listening to the amazing James Taylor and Carole King whom I was so pleased to be able to see in concert and this song was particularly poignant to me. I think it has or does apply to all of us at different times.
