An evening with Steve Prestwich

Last night I had the opportunity to spend some time with a former member of one of Australia's most loved rock bands called Cold Chisel. This man was the drummer, Steve Prestwich. He is putting a new album together and I am helping to create the artwork for the cover art and design. It was a few hours spent listening to the tracks of Steve's new album in the background as I worked on the art for the album. It was a very nice space, and a very nice experience.

Steve in his own right is a very talented songwriter, musician and performer. Steve Prestwich is a British born Australian drummer, singer and songwriter. Born in Liverpool, England, Steve is best known for his role as drummer for Cold Chisel and his short spell in the Little River Band. He is most noted for writing two of Cold Chisel's most famous songs, "When The War Is Over" and "Forever Now" from the 1982 album Circus Animals. Steve has found a wonderful place to be based from in the highlands south of Sydney with his family. I was very envious of the space he works in and the pleasant vibe that existed there. The crisp cool air when I left his home of the highlands was lovely. The air is fresher there than Sydney. Just a lovely evening and an unexpected pleasure.
I had also been trying to find a copy in the city earlier in the day of Cold Chisel's most notable album for me called, EAST and I was unable to do so, and he said, it's OK I have one, and he gave me a copy and autographed it. Almost every song on that album charted and were hits! A great album.

I am including a ballad here that Steve wrote which was one of the bands biggest hits called "When The War Is Over" and was covered by a few other artists as well. Ian Moss is singing the lead and Jim Barnes the backing on this occasion, and then takes over toward the end.
Enjoy.
