Botong's Parade

Whilst I was in the Philippines, there was a local barangay parade where the basketball teams marched along the national highway. I thought it would be great to capture the local flavour with some images. Marcelina put the low res shots into a slideshow which I am pasting here below. It was a lot of fun.

I think there were more than a few locals who loved the big white guy taking pictures. I felt for all the people marching because literally when the whole parade participants marched past me, the heavens opened and let out their bounty. There was a lot of soaked people.

I am half Filipino. My mom hails from one of the islands in Southern Philippines. I haven't been to the Philippines yet. My mom hasn't been back there for more than 15 years she says. Next year, we might just surprise her family by visiting them. I wish I'll get to see and experience something like what I've seen in your slideshow. Looks like it was so much fun! My mom got teary eyed as she watched it.

You ROCK! That part of the Philippines is unreal. Looks like the people there are friendly.
