The Down Syndrome Calendar is done for 2012

Over the last few days I have completed the calendar ready for printing for the Down Syndrome Calendar for 2011. I have been doing this calendar, without cost for 15 years now. I cannot believe where the time has gone....honestly. This is the cover and when they are ready will be available for sale directly from Down Syndrome NSW. Working on this calendar has been a labour of love for these 15 years as I annually go through and find places each month for children and adults who have down syndrome and give them a voice of celebration. When I started creating this calendar all that time ago, I was a little perplexed at seeing 12 faces in a calendar, 1 a month and the images would be almost pathetic images designed, I guess, to illicit sympathy and encourage donations. I had the idea that why should only 12 faces be featured every year and why can't we feature as many people as we can and so the current concept was born.

Admittedly my first attempts in the beginning were rudimentary and it has graphically become quite a big task since those early days. I am honoured to be able to feature these children and adults with Downs in such a way that allows everyone to see and appreciate the value and worth these peoples lives have and the contribution they make to those who know them, and the wider community.

This is one job I am very honoured to be associated with.
